Amy Major

Welcome, and thank you for the interest in my work. I have been creating ceramics for over 15 years, and still find new and exciting joy in the process.  I love working with clay because it is a  medium with endless possibilities.

Right now I am most interested in using porcelain and high fire glazes.  I also use gold and silver leafs in the decoration of my pieces. The contrast I get in texture, from the smooth glaze to the roughness of the leaf, adds interest. I have also experimented with low fire clay bodies, so keep checking back as my interests change.

My pieces are a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-building techniques. I like to use the wheel as a tool, but rarely leave a piece unaltered after taking it off the wheel. I want each piece to be an individual, unique piece.

I live and work in Kansas City, Missouri.

I am a ceramic partner with MoonRiver Pottery, Kansas City metro.  I am the owner/founder of WeeCreate in Mission, KS, Art Classes for Kids.
