My interest in pottery began after my mother and I gifted each other pottery lessons from Tara Dawley at the Westport-Roanoke Community Center, circa 2000. Mom and I loved the experience and I was bitten by the pottery bug, so to speak. After a year or two of experimenting in studios, I purchased a wheel and set up shop in my basement where I continue to produce today. All of my firing is done at the KC Clay Guild.
A social worker by day, I throw and make pots as a form of self care and meditation. I’m especially attracted to work that is functional, carved or stamped and in some cases altered. I prefer simple glazing and often overlap/spray glazes on top of each other for interesting effects.
